Sabai Top Class guides you through knitting a modern, lightweight top seamlessly from the top down.
You’ll begin by working the neckline in a 1x1 rib, shaping the slanted shoulders with increases as you go. For the armholes, the front and back are worked separately back and forth, then joined again to continue in the round. The top is finished with a narrow ribbed border and a softly rolled edge for a clean, minimal look.
Because the Sabai Top is worked from the top down, you can try it on as you knit and adjust the length to suit your style. Along the way, we’ll focus on reading the pattern with confidence, managing shaping, and keeping your stitches even for a polished finish.
What you’ll learn
- Top-down garment construction
- Working in the round and flat within the same project
- Shaping with increases for shoulders
- Dividing and rejoining front and back sections
- Managing fit and adjusting length as you knit
Materials
- DK-weight yarn in the amount for your chosen size (we recommend Sandnes Garn Line)
- US 6 (4.0 mm) and US 8 (5.0 mm) 32-inch circular needles
